Like many HR leaders, I care deeply about wellbeing, resilience, and creating healthy workplace cultures.
And yet… I’ll admit: I’ve been guilty of contributing to the 'always-on' culture myself.
Emails at 5am.
Working while sick.
Logging on during holidays.
Even drafting this post… on a Sunday!
It can feel like dedication, but over time, I’ve realised that without boundaries, even good intentions can send the wrong message to a team.
As leaders, our actions speak louder than policies.
Wellbeing is not just something we write about in handbooks. It’s in how we role model switching off, how we respect recovery time, and how we create psychological safety for others to do the same.
I’m consciously working on this, because I believe leaders who are open about their growth create cultures where others can grow too.
I’d love to hear from others, what practical things have you found help build real boundaries for your teams?
